'ORKNEY IN THE 12TH CENTURY: EARL ROGNAVALD AND HIS EARLDOM' EXHIBITION

This exhibition gives a taste of what Orkney was like during the Viking occupation. It draws upon the archaeology of the islands along with detailed history and its legacy of literature. Held in the Orkney Museum at Kirkwall. Admission free.

ORKNEY INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FESTIVAL

A mix of activities. Topics range from astronomy to zoology, from renewable energy to rural transport, with many speakers. Activities include talks and exhibitions.

SEA ANGLING ASSOCIATION SCOTTISH OPEN BOAT CHAMPIONSHIPS

Three day sea angling competitionin Stromness. Prizes for each day and overall winners. Rod and reel hire available.

ORKNEY MIDDLE DISTANCE TRIATHLON

This is a Scottish ranked event and is one of only two such events in Scotland. The swim takes place at Scapa Beach, Kirkwall. Distances: 1.9km swim/100km bike/20km run.
